Dog lover has adorable photoshoot for pregnant golden retriever she rescued
If there’s one thing we all love and could do with more of right now, it’s cute dog photos.
One woman from Houston, Texas, has recently given the internet an abundance of them after she decided to throw her golden retriever a maternity photoshoot.
Animal fosterer and teacher Caitie Evers has gone viral after working with photographer Shauna Kiely on an adorable photoshoot to celebrate her dog’s pregnancy.
The one-year-old dog, named Lily-Mae, is a former stray that Caitie rescued recently and has given a home.
Three days after the snaps were taken, Lily-Mae gave birth to eight tiny puppies – all of which have also had their photo taken.
Lily-Mae posed for a number of pictures during the tongue-in-cheek shoot, while wearing a flower crown.
Caitie joined her in some of them, holding a fake ultrasound scan photo for the puppies.
In one picture she has a long, red, floaty skirt on.
The aim of the photoshoot was to raise awareness about animal welfare and encourage people to treat their pets better.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Caitie said: “Lily-Mae got pregnant on the streets and it’s really lucky that we found her when we did. If she’d have given birth without a proper home the pups would not have survived.
“They wouldn’t be able to handle the cold and probably wouldn’t survive disease.
“It was my own idea to do the shoot, I’ve always wanted to do one because I thought it’d be a fun thing to do. My friend is a photographer so we headed up to our local park and just played about with some shots.
“They turned out really well, Lily-Mae seemed to have a good time.”
Despite working fulltime in the last six years Caitie has helped rescue 195 dogs in her area and each has gone on to find an adoptive home.
All eight of Lily-Mae’s puppies will also go on to be adopted when they are old enough.
Caitie added it would make her “happy” to find them all good homes to go to.
